Frequently asked questions

Payment and general conditions

  • Yes, my prices include all taxes (GST and QST), as well as service fees. You therefore pay the price shown on my website — no surprises!

  • Most payment methods are accepted: Visa, Mastercard, Google Pay, Apple Pay, Amex, Discover, etc.

    • Payment for the "Snowy Walking Guided Tour of Old Québec" and "Île d'Orléans in Its White Coat" tours is made directly at the time of booking.

    • For custom private tours, we will agree on a rate together, and I will send you a payment link via the "Square" app. The visit will be booked as soon as payment is made.

  • You will be fully refunded if you cancel the visit more than 24 hours before the departure time.
In case of my unavailability after your booking, I will first try to reschedule your tour or propose another guide. If that's not possible, you will be fully refunded.

  • It is very rare for me to cancel tours due to bad weather. The concept of a winter tour is to enjoy Québec, whether it's cold, raining, hailing, or snowing!
The tour may be canceled by you or me only in the event of a weather alert from Environment Canada affecting the Québec region. In that case, the tour will be fully refunded.
Please note that if you cancel due to bad weather less than 24 hours in advance when there is no weather alert, you will not be refunded, in accordance with the cancellation and refund policy.

  • If you think you'll be late for the start of your tour, please let me know as soon as possible.
If I have nothing scheduled after your tour, I will be happy to extend it by the time lost, within reason (15 to 30 minutes).
Unfortunately, if I have another tour or commitment afterward, I may not be able to extend it, and a partial refund will not be possible.

  • All prices displayed on my website are in Canadian dollars.

Practical information

  • As Quebecers say, there’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing. During my tour, we’ll spend several hours outdoors and sometimes a few minutes standing still. Some spots can be windy, so proper clothing is essential to fully enjoy it!

    • Head and feet well covered:
Tuque covering ears + neck gaiter + waterproof mittens (warmer than gloves).
Insulated and waterproof boots with thick, grippy soles, wool socks (no cotton!).

    • Upper body: 3 essential layers:
Base: Thermal base layer (synthetic/merino wool) to stay dry.
Mid: Fleece/sweater for insulation to retain heat.
Outer: Windproof/waterproof winter coat with hood, ideally long to cover hips.

    • Lower body: two layers:
Thermal base layer (synthetic/merino wool) to stay dry.
Regular pants over top if warmer than -10°C (avoid jeans).
Snow pants over top if colder than -10°C or windy.

No desire to shop for all this? Rent your winter gear for your stay from my friend Émilie at Tuque et Bicycle Expérience.

  • While my tours primarily target accompanying adults, I’m always delighted to welcome children or teens.
With two daughters aged 5 and 8, and plenty of experience working with kids, I know how to keep them entertained so everyone enjoys a great family time. That said, if your teen has zero interest in walking in the cold or history, it might be wiser to let them binge Netflix at the hotel.

  • While possible, I strongly recommend a baby carrier or sling instead, depending on your baby’s weight. Québec’s streets are hilly, stairs are common, and winter sidewalks can be snowy or icy — turning your visit into a slalom!
If you still choose a stroller, ensure it’s foldable, lightweight, and has sturdy wheels.

  • With pleasure — I love pups! Note that some indoor spots can’t be visited with dogs (except service dogs), so we’ll adjust the itinerary. Your dog must be leashed throughout.
Cold can be tough on small dogs, who don’t warm up like humans. It’s your responsibility to ensure your pup stays comfortable.

  • I’m happy to do a tour for one or two people. The price remains the same regardless of group size.

  • For walking tours: Maximum 15 participants to ensure everyone enjoys it! For larger groups, I can call in a colleague to split into subgroups. Email me to discuss!

For tours with transport: Maximum 7 participants. For larger groups, I can arrange another driver/guide duo to split subgroups. Email me to discuss!

  • I can pick you up anywhere in Old Québec (Upper and Lower Town) — hotel, Airbnb, restaurant, or museum you’re visiting beforehand.
On a cruise in Québec? I’ll get you at piers 21 or 22. From pier 30, I’ll meet at your shuttle drop-off.

  • For tours with transport, I partner with my friend Félix-Antoine from Limo Québec.
Vehicles are spacious, comfortable, and modern: sedan, SUV, or minivan based on group size. The driver’s included, letting me focus fully on your visit for a safe experience.
Price covers everything: vehicle rental, driver salary, and 15% tip.
